Overview:
Georgian Bay is a region of Lake Huron and the southern part of the Great Canadian Shield, located northwest of Toronto.
The beaches of Georgian Bay, first discovered and surveyed by Samuel De Champlain in the early 1600s, were a vital trading route and were named after King George IV in the early 1800s. In 2004, UNESCO designated the area as a Biosphere Reserve. Between Lake Huron and the geological "Blue Mountains Formation," Georgian Bay is surrounded by natural splendour. This lovely village is a year-round destination resort with a diverse range of activities for all ages.
Highlights:
Blue Mountain town, located at the foot of the mountain, is roughly 90 minutes from Toronto. After a few steps and passing past some gorgeous buildings, you'll reach the entrance to the open-air gondola, where you may purchase your ticket to the peak. The majestic splendour of the countryside will overtake your senses once you reach the summit, with breathtaking views of Georgian Bay. You'll be looking at Lake Superior, the second-largest of the Great Lakes. The journey continues with a visit to Wasaga Beach, the world's longest freshwater beach at 14 kilometres. Enjoy the twilight colours reflected on the rolling hills of Ontario on your drive back to Toronto.
